The history of the brand Lucky Strike began in the XIX century. In the famous “tobacco” state of Virginia in 1871, R.A. Patterson registered it for sale … no, no cigarettes; they will come up with a bit later.
Legend has it that R.A. Patterson bought a tobacco factory badly damaged by a fire, which in turn was the result of a strike. The stingy new owner did not throw out the burnt tobacco, but mixed it with the usual one, unexpectedly getting a new taste. The name for the mixture was coined ambiguous, lucky strike, usually understood as “hit”, may also mean “successful strike.”
In 1917, the slogan “It’s Toasted” was used, which informed customers about the new method of drying tobacco – “roasting”, and not drying it in the sun. In the same year, the inscription “L.S.M.F.T.” appears.

In 2009, the British package changes the classic red “lung” Lucky Strike circle to blue to make it easier for customers to distinguish a strong variety from a light one.
